Wildseed Farms
Since 1983, Wildseed Farms has been synonymous with the vibrant beauty of Texas wildflowers. Founded by John and Marilyn Thomas, this family operation became a trailblazer in the wildflower industry, cultivating the iconic blooms that define the Texas landscape. But in 2015, the Thomas family added a new chapter to their legacy—channeling five generations of farming and harvesting expertise into their first vineyard.
The transition from wildflowers to wine grapes might seem unexpected, but it makes perfect sense. Both require an intimate understanding of the land, meticulous cultivation practices, and patience to see beauty come to fruition. The same family wisdom that made Wildseed Farms a wildflower destination now informs every decision in their expanding vineyard operation.
Starting with their initial planting in 2015, Wildseed Farms has grown their vineyard to 42 acres, with plans to add another 12 acres in 2024. This measured, thoughtful expansion reflects the family’s commitment to doing things right—building a wine program that honors their agricultural heritage while embracing the future of Texas viticulture.
When you visit Wildseed Farms, you’re experiencing the result of generational farming knowledge applied to winemaking. It’s a place where the land has always been respected, where beauty and bounty go hand in hand, and where a legacy continues to bloom in new and exciting ways.
At Cowboy Tours, we love wineries with deep roots and compelling stories. Wildseed Farms offers both—a family legacy spanning five generations, expertise honed over decades, and the courage to venture into new territory while staying true to their agricultural values. It’s a destination where you’ll taste wines grown by people who truly understand the land.
